The Barbet Club of America is the parent club for the Barbet in the United States. We are working to preserve, protect, and promote the Barbet by providing education, recognized events, responsible ownership, and aid in rescues.
The Barbet Club of America was originally created in the mid 1990s. However, with just a handful of Barbet in the United States, the club folded. In 2009, with the Barbet listed in AKC's FSS group, a national Barbet club was founded under the name of Barbet Fanciers of America. The BFA participated in AKC's Meet the Breeds in New York for the first time in 2010.
Since that time, the American population has steadily grown to 300 Barbet. The BFA changed their name to the Barbet Club of America, the breed has earned many conformation and performance titles, and has just been admitted to AKC's Miscellaneous group at the beginning of 2017.
Our club strives to maintain high standards for our breeders and club members.
